There are many ways to remove pesky body hair permanently. Some permanent hair removals work better than others.
We have all seen the hairy beasts at the pool or on the beach, covered with hair everywhere. It is just unsightly and gross. Maybe these guys are unaware of the solutions for them.
Really, we all have unpleasant body hair we want to get rid of, whether it is an unsightly mustache or waves of back hair. Every solution available for permanent hair removal come with their own benefits and downsides.
Permanent hair removal is not necessary permanent, meaning you will still have to have an occasional body hair removal treatment, about once a year. But having to go through just the occasional hair removal treatment is still great results for most.
- Electrolysis: When done correctly by a licensed professional, electrolysis will remove hair permanently. It uses an extremely thin metal probe that slides into the hair folic and “shocks” it, damaging the hair follicle so that the hair dies and never regrows. Benefits: Gives the best results and has the longest history of working for permanent hair removal. Downsides: It is not only expensive but also painful, and for some, it doesn’t work.
- Home Electrolysis: There are home kits available to do electrolysis from the privacy of your own home. The kit is usually battery run and includes a pen with a retractable metal probe, plus the ability to adjust the “shock” of the hair follicle. Benefits: It is a lot cheaper, done in the privacy of your home, and when electrolysis might not be available in your area, it is a good option. Downsides: Still painful, can cause skin damage, and usually doesn’t work because you have no training. I have tried a home electrolysis kit and it was extremely difficult to get metal probe in the hair follicle. I could only do it in large pores that I could see easily.
- Laser: The results are still out on laser hair removal giving permanent results. It seems that people have had varying results from the treatment, giving permanent hair removal to some, but only hair reduction to others. Laser hair removal is a wavelength delivered by a hand piece to a specific area of the skin, causing damage to the hair follicle. Benefits: long lasting hair removal or hair reduction, if hair does grow back it is usually lighter and thinner, is great for large areas of skin. Downsides: does not work well unless hair is dark. It is also expensive and painful, and results vary.
While looking for the perfect permanent hair removal system remember to take into consideration: the amount of hair you want removed, the color of your hair, and the amount of money you would like to spend. From the studies and results done, electrolysis seems to be the best option for most people when it comes to permanent hair removal.
