Acne is stereotypically associated with teenagers going through hormonal changes, but the truth is, acne can strike at any phase of life-even adult life.
Acne is an emotional as well as a physical problem that causes feelings of self-consciousness and frustration. Acne blemishes can be healed naturally with remedies that are simple and fast. Keep skin clean with a soap-free cleanser, and try these home remedies for acne before turning to harsh medications.
Supplements
Supplements are an insurance policy for the skin to work with topical treatments.
- Nutrition: Take a multivitamin. It is very important that acne sufferers get adequate nutrition from vitamins such as vitamin A, C and E.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Restore skin's balance from the inside out with apple cider vinegar tablets. Apple cider vinegar can be purchased at any drug store, grocery store or health food store. These tablets boost circulation from within to heal acne quicker. (If you would rather drink apple cider vinegar water, dilute a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar per one cup of water. This will give the same skin clearing results as the tablets.)
Toners
Toners and astringents keep oil under control and should be used no more than twice a day after cleaning the skin.
- Witch Hazel: Use witch hazel as a facial toner twice a day after cleansing. Witch hazel calms skin irritation from acne and will remove the excess oil that is clogging pores.
- Aloe Juice: Use aloe juice as a skin freshener. Aloe juice will soothe acne rashes, heal infected blemishes and keep skin soft.
Spot Treatments
Use these natural remedies for stubborn blemishes that need extra attention. Spot treatments can be applied up to three times a day.
- Garlic: Garlic is a natural antibiotic. Apply garlic juice to acne blemishes. This spot treatment will reduce pressure and heal bad blemishes.
- Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is native to Australia and is a natural antiseptic that can be applied directly to blemishes. Tea tree oil actually becomes stronger when in the presence of infection.
Masks
Facial masks are a nourishing way to heal acne and maintain beautiful skin. These ideas can be used three to four times per week.
- Honey: Apply pure honey to the face for fifteen minutes as a clarifying mask. Honey is full of potassium which is a bacteria killer. Honey will also prevent skin from drying out which causes the reaction of excess oil production.
- Yeast: To draw out blemishes and purge the skin of deep impurities, make a paste with yeast and water. Use a paint brush to spread over the skin, leave on until dry and rinse with cool water.
- Strawberries and Milk: Strawberries are a potent source of vitamin C, a strong antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals and prevent oxidation of skin tissue. Milk contains lactic acid that mildly exfoliates the skin. Mash up four large strawberries and pour in enough milk to make a paste. Spread over the face and leave on for twenty minutes and rinse with cool water.
Try each natural remedy to find the one that works best. The right combination will keep skin clear and soft without the worry of future breakouts.
